Under active supervision of physician, support provider in all provision, protocols and procedures of medical treatment and care of patient and the documentation thereof.

Agree and Commit to:

  • Adhere to all Policy and Procedures of Immediate Care of Oklahoma

  • Complete, have validated and submit to Coordinator Medical Training Levels 1-4

  • Ascribe to and attempt to incorporate the principles of Character Core in the performance of the following Tasks and Responsibilities

Tasks and Responsibilities: The following provides a broad based list that is not intended to be all inclusive. As with all ICO job descriptions, they are works in progress and adjusted as needed and based on workflow requirements, specific facility and staffing, as well as short-term projects requested by ICO Management.

  • Serve as supervisor to MA, CNA, LPNs in training as requested by Coordinator and/or Medical Director or as required during the process of patient treatment

  • Interview/triage patient and care givers as required to secure and confirm chief health concern/reason for visit and past pertinent family medical history as needed to determine treatment options for patient

  • Secure information pursuant to ancillary health concerns that are germane to treatment and continuum of care

  • Solicit, measure and electronically record vital signs and information concerning the patients health, including a complete list of all medications

  • Perform laboratory, X-ray, and electrocardiogram testing as requested and/or required by provider

  • Perform regular proficiency testing as required ICO Management (see 3 under Agree and Commit above)

  • Assist physician or other medical staff with treatment procedures

  • Documentation of all information, protocols, procedures and items related to the above tasks or responsibilities

  • Prepare exam and treatment rooms for medical protocols and procedures

  • Maintain sterile environment for instruments and equipment as required for patient treatment

  • Maintain cleanliness of all exam areas, lab area, medication room, nurse station and ancillary areas

  • Confirm expiration dates of all medications and/or medical supplies

  • Daily check of medical equipment to insure operational function and calibration requirements

  • Referrals-Contact affiliated medical facilities and departments, clinics, doctor offices, and or associated professional sources to schedule patient for additional testing or treatment

  • Participate in three (3) day call back of new patients or those requiring reports of test results

  • Maintenance of log books and other record keeping as required by Administration

  • Work with/assist fellow staff (home clinic as well as associate facilities) to create a total care environment

  • Demonstrate an attitude of flexibility and cooperation

  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn and teach with a desire to improve your personal skill sets and those of fellow staff with whom you are associated

At times the above duties and responsibilities may be modified to best or better accomplish the primary goal of ICO, exceptional patient care, medical and fiduciary. As a staff member and as a part of your job description you are agreeing to accept responsibility for completion of noted tasks as required or requested even when altered, expanded or enhanced with specifics directives given by your Clinic Coordinator or Medical Director.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Basic knowledge and operational skills of clinical equipment (medical and office)
  • Advanced knowledge of medical terminology, specifically medicines and pharmaceutical designations
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills (not programmer level)
  • Excellent people and relational skills:
    • Customer Service
    • Ability to follow orders
    • Interpersonal skills with healthcare team
    • Ability to respond to questions in a professional manner with poise and tact to include:
      • Verbal
      • Facial and body language
  • General ability to exert physical effort:
    • Standing for long periods
    • Lifting normal medical equipment, supplies and office type items
    • Walking from front of facility to back multiple times during a duty shift
    • Carrying normal medical equipment and materials during those trips
  • Filing and information retrieval skills, both manual and electronic
  • Knowledge of and willingness to abide by established industry and Immediate Care of Oklahoma service standards

Qualifications, Skill Sets, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Must be a U. S. or naturalized citizen and proficient in spoken and written English

  • Licensed Practical Nurse License registered with the Oklahoma Board of Nursing

  • University or Technical School Degree

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Field experience valued but not required

  • Basic Life Support Training including CPR and AED from American Heart Association Healthcare Provider
